The SR-12-D2040 high power LED lighting assembly has been specifically designed to work as a drop-in replacement for the LXHL-ND94 Luxeon Star/O that is no longer manufactured by Philips Lumileds. This assembly is built with a Fraen FLP-N4-RE-HRF optic and has a near identical form factor to the original Star/O and can typically be cooled and powered using the same heat sink and driver used for the LXHL-ND94.

Thermal Management

The CoolBase SR-12-D2040 LED module requires careful attention to mounting and cooling to ensure that the junction temperature of the LED is kept well below the maximum rating specified in the Lumileds datasheet.

We recommend that the module be mounted to an aluminum or copper finned heatsink exposed to open air for optimal cooling. The module can be mounted to the heat sink in one of two ways:

Before fastening the module to the heat sink, ensure that the two mating surfaces are perfectly flat and clean to maximize heat transfer to the heatsink. Mechanical fasteners are not recommended for this module.

The bottom of the LED module is electrically neutral, so it is unnecessary to electrically isolate the base from the cooling surface.
